15 Back to School Wins Inside Prodigies Music

Whether you start school in early August or don't kick off until sometime around Labor Day, if you're here in the United States you are BACK in the swing of things.

So to help you along in your music education journey, I wanted to point to some of our best activities for starting your year off strong.

1. Core 10 Chapters of Prodigies Music

The core of Prodigies Music is a collection of 10 chapters across Prodigies Music Level 1A, 1B and Level 2A.

Each chapter contains roughly 2 months of content and covers a different topic or a specific group of musical notes!

These are broken up by week and feature 4-6 videos each week that focus on the next step in your child's musical journey.

Within those 4-6 videos, you'll find that the first few videos are pretty easy and straightforward, while some videos might be a little more difficult.

This helps if you're working with a mixed age group or in a classroom that contains some musical beginners and some more intermediate players.

We spent years developing the lesson plans, workbooks and progressions within these core 10 chapters, and starting with Chapter 1 is certainly a great place to start if you haven't already.

2. Quick Start Playlists (Sing, Sign, Play)

If you want some quicker wins that aren't as deep and pedagogical as the core curriculum hop into the Quick Start playlists where you can sing with simple songs, hand-sign with instrument free lessons or play through some fan favorites in the Sing, Sign, Play playlists.

Steady Beat Songs

While lots of the melody videos use a steady beat, these 3 videos focus specifically on steady beat, which can be a great way to kick off the school year!

Plus, you can find dozens of rhythm songs and videos inside the Rhythm playlist here.

Mi Sol La Songs

So-Mi songs (aka Mi Sol La songs) are super fun and easy for kids to learn and play.

These three sounds are the catchy little pattern behind "nanny nanny boo boo" and there's more than a dozen mi sol la performance tracks and songs inside Chapter 5, Mi Sol La.

Do Re Mi Songs

Similar to the 3 note melodies of Mi Sol La, playing 3 note melodies with Do Re and Mi is almost a guaranteed win with any age group or skill level.

One Note Studies

And when you want to zoom in even further and focus on just one note, we've got you covered with lots of fun one note videos featuring Ms. Sam, Mr. Rob, and King Tritone!

Spanish Language Songs

September 15th starts a celebration of Spanish music and you can find a handful of Spanish language arrangements here.

Five Little Pumpkins

September and October mean all things fall, and 5 Little Pumpkins is an easy C Major scale song that kids love to sing and play.

Prodigies Melodies These short and sweet solfege exercises work great as a class opener or summarizer. There's more than 20 Melodies videos to sing and hand-sign along with.
